These one or two day meetings provide an opportunity to gather between national conferences to further dialogue and action around a particular issue.
Formats
Focus on a major IA research and action area. For example, a focus on IA’s Tenure Team Initiative on Public Scholarship, Assessing the Practices of Public Scholarship, or Publicly Active Graduate Education. An IA leader regarding that initiative participates in planning and the event itself.
Focus on a topic of proven interest to a broad IA constituency For example, the Wisconsin Regional Meeting in March 2011 focused on the intersection of the arts and aging, and featured a performance that artists and scholars spent two years making. Participants attended the performance and joined a seminar for reflection and assessment.
A regional conference on public scholarship hosted by a member institution. Such events provide a platform for networking on campus, across the region, and among campuses and community partners.
We encourage the participation of students, and can offer them an additional opportunity to talk together, perhaps over lunch. We also recommend community partner inclusion when relevant to the particular agenda.
