Following Randy and Imagining Americaโs commitment to the local, this yearโs award looks to recognize individuals who have some prior connection to Imagining America and who are connected to the region of the 2018 Imagining America National Gathering (IA Gathering) โ either residing or working in the Midwest. Recipients of the Randy Martin Spirit Award will be recognized during the 2018 IA Gathering in Chicago on Friday evening October 19th.
The โSpirit Awardโ is, itself, an opportunity to be in the program at the following yearโs IA National Gathering. Awardees will be invited to showcase their work โ a talk, workshop, performance, or another format โ to be shaped in partnership with members of the IA staff and National Advisory Board. Travel and accommodations are provided for the 2019 IA Gathering. Given this context (criteria and region) narratives should speak to why this nominee’s history of work and present engagement speaks to the qualifications of this award.
