Dr. Sophia Krzys Acord is a Senior Associate Consultant at ASK Associates, a firm that supports academic and cultural institutions in developing robust collaborations and competitive grant proposals. A cultural sociologist by training, Acord’s work examines the social and spatial dimensions of artistic production and engagement to showcase and facilitate change-making and interdisciplinary collaboration. Her peer-reviewed work has been published in museum studies, sociology of the arts, higher education, mobile technologies, and qualitative research methods. Her collaborative work has been funded by the Mellon Foundation, Institute of Museum and Library Sciences, American Council of Learned Societies, National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, Florida Humanities Council, and Southeastern Consortium.
Acord served as Associate Dean for Research and Strategic Initiatives in the University of Florida (UF) College of the Arts, Associate Director in the UF Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere, and Project Manager at the University of California, Berkeley Center for Studies in Higher Education. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and Master of Research Methodology from the University of Exeter and a Bachelor of Arts from Swarthmore College, and was a founding editor of the peer-reviewed open-access journal Music and Arts in Action.
