Are you feeling the need to pause, to listen to your heart, and discern a grounded path forward with others? Imagining America invites you to join us in a reflection, grounding, healing, and orienting ‘creative pause’ designed and facilitated by IA NAB Member Kayhan Irani, award winning writer, storyteller, and embodied arts practitioner. In this one-hour community gathering space, Kayhan will invite us to clear mental and emotional space and reground in our own gifts and knowledge through creative writing, reflection, and dialogue.
About the Facilitator:
Kayhan Irani is a multidisciplinary artist and cultural worker whose practice bridges storytelling, theater, and social justice. An Emmy Award recipient and 2016 White House Champion of Change, she specializes in creating participatory art experiences that foster community healing and transformation. Through her work as a Theater of the Oppressed practitioner and trainer, Irani has developed innovative approaches to civic engagement and community development, working with organizations ranging from grassroots movements to international institutions. Her creative portfolio includes the acclaimed one-woman show “We’ve Come Undone,” which toured internationally, and her current participatory digital storytelling project “There is a Portal,” which examines themes of belonging and migration.
About this Event Series:
This event launches a monthly online space for the IA community to share examples of how you have created communities of care on your campuses and in your regions, and to raise issues of shared concern for peer learning and collective strategizing. This is an open online space for the IA network to connect, reflect, and plan – join us! A future event in this series is scheduled for June 4, 2025.
