“Raining Creosote” is a mixed media piece using harvested creosote twigs from my front yard connected by a string. On top, creosote water color is used to symbolize raindrops. This work embodies exploration of place by engaging the senses, particularly, sense of smell and touch. Reflecting on the ways found natural materials connect to place, I suggest the senses must be part of the inquiry.
